The guide presents 236 plants, each with a photo, assignment to the plant family, with German, Latin, English, Norwegian and Swedish names, as well as a detailed description, also for biotope and distribution. It also contains drawings (including leaf shapes and types of inflorescences), maps (including vegetation in the Scandinavian mountain areas) and an introduction to hobby botanists, to whom the book is particularly intended. The revised and expanded edition reflects the sometimes significant changes in systematics and designation that have been made since the first edition (in 2005). The plants are arranged nomenclatically; the register contains the German and Latin/scientific plant names.
