The Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA) is one of the most convincing examples of environmentally and socially responsible tourism in the entire Alpine region, because the route avoids the tourist areas and always follows ancient paths. You can only spend the night with the locals and the hiker experiences these alpine valleys characterized by migration from the perspective of the locals.
The first part (The North) describes the route from the Swiss border to the Susa Valley near Turin.
