The Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA) is one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in the Alps. It runs from the southern border of Switzerland (Valais) in 68 daily stages through the valleys of the Piedmontese Alps to the Mediterranean Sea at Ventimiglia. The route always follows old paths and you can spend the night in the so-called Posti tappa, which are run by the locals.
The two parts of the walking classic have been completely revised and updated for this 8th edition. They describe the route and provide all the information GTA hikers need. In addition, they provide extensive background information about the regions involved.
