Almost every visitor returns enthusiastic about the variety of experiences from Jordan. On the other hand, Jordanians are happy with every tourist who travels to their country and therefore supports it. But many Europeans prefer other destinations because they fear attacks. Yet Jordan stands out from the chaos in the Middle East as an island of stability and security.

The relatively small kingdom has successfully isolated itself from its dangerous neighbors, and its residents keep a critical eye on it alongside its military and intelligence services. Solo travelers unanimously report that they felt safe and were able to travel without complications. And last but not least, they enjoyed their visit because of the friendly and helpful people.

Finally, Jordan offers highlights for every holiday taste. It starts with the world-famous World Cultural Heritage Site of Petra, with its incomparable landscape and the 2,000-year-old rock architecture of the Nabataeans embedded within it. Almost simultaneously, the Romans left behind Gerasa (now Jerash), the best-preserved Roman city east of the Mediterranean, including theaters, temples and a horse racing track. Christian pilgrims will find many sites from the time of Jesus, culminating in his baptismal site of Bethania on the Jordan.

Active holidaymakers can get quite extreme with canyoning through narrow gorges, sometimes only at shoulder width. Desert lovers will find a fascinating landscape in Wadi Rum, where rock giants rise almost vertically from the red sand. Friendly, unassuming Bedouins invite you to acclaimed desert treks and overnight stays in their camps.

Hikers will find plenty to do in the forested mountains in the north, or can join guided desert tours from, for example, Wadi Rum to Petra. If you want to relax after all the activities, you can book a wellness treatment at the Dead Sea and float seemingly weightless in the water. Aqaba with its beach on the Red Sea invites you to take a deep look at the colorful underwater world. In short, Jordan offers visitors so much, and so much of the unusual, that one would have to fill an entire book to describe it.
